AAU, World Bank Commend PAMI’s Research Efforts

The Pan African Materials Institute (PAMI) of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) has received a pat on the back for the successes recorded in its research work within the short time of its existence.

Mr. Andreas Blom, WorldBank Task Team Leader, and Mrs Adeline Addy, Program Officer, Association of African Universities made these commendations while appraising the status of projects, update on disbursements and planning of key next steps anchored at the 6th ACE workshop held in Abidjan, CotreI’voire, from November 15-17, 2016.

The duo cited research work by KwabenaKan-Dapaahon “Implantable Composite Devices for the Localised Treatment of Breast Cancer”, John David Obayemi’s work on Nano- Particles For Breast Cancer Detection And Treatment and Salifu T. Azeko’s work centred on “Biodegradation and Recycling of Polyethylene into Composite Building Materials” among others as some of the research works which when properly harnessed will promote science and technology development in Africa.

They charged the PAMI Centre Leader, Dr. OmololuAkin-Ojo, to lay more emphasis on enrollment into the M.Sc and Ph.D programmes, especially from other countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
